Salāmun ʿAlaykum & Welcome!
I’m Sakina, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a dedicated mental health advocate with a focus on supporting young individuals in their journeys to clarity and resilience. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the United States International University – Africa, and my approach to therapy is grounded in both evidence-based practices and the compassionate principles of Islam.
My commitment to mental health began in my teenage years, a period marked by my own navigation through the complexities of adolescence. Observing my mother’s devotion to helping others and the inspiring teachings of the Aʾimmah deeply influenced my path. Islam places significant importance on caring for the emotional and spiritual needs of our communities, and this perspective has fueled my dedication to supporting individuals who face unique challenges. Through my work, I strive to serve as a compassionate resource not only for youth but for families and community leaders alike.
In my therapeutic approach, I integrate principles from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). This model allows me to tailor each session to the specific needs of my clients, whether they’re working through personal challenges or seeking guidance in alignment with their faith and values. My goal is to offer a respectful, nurturing space where clients can explore and strengthen their mental well-being.
Outside of my professional life, I am a daughter, sister, and wife. I find joy in community service and in connecting with nature, which serves as a reminder of Allah’s creation and balance. These experiences deepen my understanding and enhance my commitment to the well-being of others.
If you feel ready to begin or continue your journey toward mental wellness, I invite you to reach out. Together, InshaAllah, we can work towards a place of peace, strength, and clarity.
